Taxonomy term
S
Arctotis
NE
{"type":"FeatureCollection","features":[]}
Short etymology:
Gk. arkto- = brown bear; -otis = an ear. The bear-like ears have been linked, variously, to the earlike pappus scales, outer involucral bracts or the shaggy fruit.
G
Haplocarpha
NE
18
{"type":"FeatureCollection","features":[]}
Short etymology:
Gk. haplo- = simple, single; karphos = chaff, any small dry body. The pappus is uniseriate. William Henry Harvey (Flora Capensis) states that the name is from apolos = soft; karphos = a scale, again referring to the pappus.
S
Heliophila pusilla
{"type":"FeatureCollection","features":[]}
Short etymology:
From the Latin pusillus = 'very small' or 'tiny'
