Etymology of Antholyza:
Gk. anthos = flower; lyssa = rage, the ‘rage flower’. A poetic allusion to the open-mouthed flowers that are meant to look like an angry animal.
Etymology of schlechteri:
Named in honour of the German Rudolf Schlecter (1872-1925) and his brother Max (1874-1960), renowned plant collectors from South Africa.
