Short etymology:
For Charles François, Marquis de Bonnay (1750–1825), French military officer, magistrate, diplomat and statesman, twice president of the National Assembly, French ambassador in Copenhagen (1814), royal French envoy to Prussia, envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary in Berlin (1815), minister of state and member of the king’s Privy Council (1820) and governor of the royal chateau of Fontainebleau (1821). He authored Prospectus d’un nouveau Journal (1789), La Prise des Annonciades (1790) and a translation of Tristram Shandy (1785).
