Etymology of Cadaba:
La. cadaba = without leaves, from kadhab, the Arabic name of C. farininosa. This plant, ‘desert broom’, is leafless and survives in the harshest conditions.

Named after Sir John Kirk (1832-1922), a Scottish physician, naturalist, and botanist who explored and collected plants in East Africa.
