Succulent perennial forming domes to 15 cm diam. Leaf bodies 6--30 mm long, obconic to cylindric, truncate, marked with tannin spots, sheath whitish, spotted, papery, persistent. Flowers nocturnal, tube white or yellow, petals white, grey or amber. Fruits 4--7-locular. Mar.--Apr. NW, LB, SE (Robertson to Steytlerville).
