Maybe from the Arabic tatorah but also said to be from the Hindi dhatūrā or the Sanskrit dhattūrāh, both meaning ‘thorn apple’. The plant is poisonous.

From the Latin ‘querci’ / ‘quercus’ meaning ‘oak’; and the Latin ‘folia’ / ‘folium’ meaning ‘leaf’.
