Etymology of Diplopappus:
Gk. diplo- = double; pappus = a modified calyx. The pappus bristles are in two rows in both ray and disk florets. However, pappos originally meant down, fluff, so the name could apply to the minutely downy tips of the style branches.
Etymology of serrulatus:
From the Latin serratus = a 'saw', ula = a diminutive meaning 'little' and atus = 'having'; i.e. having a little saw
