La. dispar = unlike, dissimilar; -ago = resemblance or connection; referring to the different sorts of floret in each tiny capitulum.

Much-branched, thinly cobwebby shrub to 90 cm. Leaves linear with involute margins, recurved and twisted, bristle-tipped. Flower heads radiate or discoid, mostly 1-flowered, grouped in dense globose clusters, pink or white, pappus bristles plumose, ray florets female. Mainly May--Sept. Sandy slopes, SW, LB, SE (Hottentots Holland to S KwaZulu-Natal).
