Species Gunillaea rhodesica

For Gunilla Thulin, wife of Swedish botanist Mats Thulin (1948– ), professor of systematic botany at Uppsala University and author of this genus published in 1974. Thulin has devoted more than 40 years to the study of African plants, with a particular focus on the flora of the Horn of Africa region. In 1988–2006 he was editor of the four-volume work Flora of Somalia, and his discovery in 2006 of the new species Acacia fumosa, a tree that dominates the vegetation over large areas in eastern Ethiopia, got much attention. He has authored more than 200 papers, including works on the genus Wahlenbergia and Fabaceae of Ethiopia and has co-authored, with Kåre and Birgitta Bremer, Introduction to Phylogeny and Systematics of Flowering Plants (2003).
