Etymology of Thalictrum:
Gk. thaliktron = name for some sort of meadow rue; from thallos = a new green shoot. Georg Christian Wittstein suggests Gk. thallein = to make green, on account of the [fresh] bright green colour of the young leaves.

From the Latin flavus = 'yellow' or 'golden'
