Etymology of Trichocyclus:
Gk. trichos = hair, hairy; cyclos = circular. The sori are round and surrounded by hairs.
Etymology of buchubergensis:
From the Buchuberg mountain in the Richtersveld near the Namibian/South African border. Buchu is the common name for members typically of the genus Agathosma, though in this case it is likely a different plant entirely as the Rutaceae are not known from there.
