This South African Wild Flower Guide 2 contributes paintings of 450 of the 3000 species that occur in the Southern Cape. An area corresponding to the divisions of George, Knysna, Humansdorp and Uniondale. The area covered is only 15000 square kilometres, but it both geographically and climatially extremely varied, reflected in the vegetation. Average rainfall varies from just 530mm at Mossel Bay, to 1165mm in the Tsitsikamma area. The area includes the coastal belt, indigenous forests, mountain passes and Klein Karoo with a focus on Calitzdorp, Oudtshoorn and Langkloof. Although rapidly painted watercolours, they nonetheless provide a reasonable likeness of the plant in reality.
