In 1981, this was a comprehensive and authoritative guide to the indigenous succulents of South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe & Mozambique. Doreen Court has had a lifetime of studying plants, accompanying her mother from the earliest days when Mrs F.N. Morris would go on weekly collecting trips to Oudsthoorn and the Little Karoo. The book contains brief descriptions of every species and a distributional description. It frequently includes horticultural notes. It also includes descriptions and notes to ecah genus. The 590 photos are small but well chosen and mostly aggregated into plates that are divorced from the descriptions. Not every species is illustrated, but many are, either in black and white or colour.
