Short etymology:
The authors state that the ‘genus nuncupatum D. Zenoni Alonso’ (the genus is named after D. Zenoni Alonso). Possibly this could be Cenón (or Zenón) Alonso Acosta Zorilla y Dávila (1756–?), a Spanish government official, and some sources record it as honouring Alonso Zanoni, a Spanish soldier in Bogotá, Columbia, but these details are unsubstantiated.
