Gk. antimimos = imitating. The first species looked like Argyroderma.

Long etymology:
Spreading shrublet to 12 cm, with branches to 16 cm. Leaves erect, abaxial surface keeled, with ciliate edges, to 3 mm long, sheath 1.5 mm long. Flowers solitary, magenta, 15 mm diam. Aug.--Sept. ?, NW, KM (W Karoo and Bokkeveld Mts to Ladismith).
