Gk. antimimos = imitating. The first species looked like Argyroderma.

Prostrate shrublet with branches trailing and rooting at the nodes, to 17 cm long, fertile branches erect, densely 4-leaved. Leaves velvety, swollen, trigonous, boat-shaped, grey-green. Flowers solitary, pink, filaments reddish at the tips, c. 20 mm diam. Fruits with large, stalked closing body. July--Sept. Rock pavements, NW (Bokkeveld Mts to Clanwilliam).
