Rhizomatous perennial to 40 cm, stems rounded, usually unbranched, lateral flower clusters sessile. Leaves subterete, fibrotic. Flowers blue, style undivided, spathes dry-membranous, rusty, translucent on edges. Capsules oblong, 3-winged. Oct.--Dec. Rocky sandstone slopes, 200--1000 m, SW, AP, KM, LB, SE (Paarl to George, Swartberg Mts).
