Etymology of Askidiosperma:
Etymology of esterhuyseniae:
For Elizabeth ‘Elsie’ Esterhuysen, (1912–2006), Capetonian botanist and prolific plant collector, particularly in the mountains of the Cape. She worked in the Kimberley Museum from 1936-1937 and from 1938 onwards at the Bolus Herbarium. Her collection exceed 34 000.

Long etymology:
Elsie worked at the Bolus herbarium as a collector for most of her career, discovering many new species. She was a specialist in Restionaceae, Ericaceae and Rutaceae. She had a bad experience driving a car, so never drove again, preferring to cycle or get lifts with members of the mountain club. She was a specialist in montane flora, lamenting that she never spent more time in the Cape Flats lowlands. In her 80's she was mugged at home and went into a rapid decline. There are over 55 species named after her, the genus Esterhuysenia, Elsiea and the genus Trieenea, which refers to the three e's in Elizabeth Elsie Esterhuysen, in the name Esterhuysen, and in the name Trieenea itself!
