Glandular-hairy perennial to 1.5 m. Leaves oblong, pinnatifid, lobes cuneate, toothed, spiny, auriculate. Flower heads discoid, yellowish, several in terminal corymbs. Oct.--Dec. Dry watercourses, NW, SW, KM, LB, SE (Namaqualand and Karoo to Cape Peninsula and to Langkloof).
