Short etymology:
The derivation of this name is uncertain. One suggestion is that the name is a corruption of La. corrago = courage, from cor = the heart; ago = I bring (food), named because the plant had a reputation since Roman times ‘to give one courage’ as a result of its food value. The herb can be eaten raw as salad greens or cooked like spinach, use as tea, etc. Other possibilities have been suggested.
