La. cedrus (Gk. kedros) = cedar; Gk. -ella = diminutive. The scent of the leaves is supposed to resemble the cedar.

Perennial to 2.5 m. Leaves digitately 3(--5)-foliolate, leaflets lanceolate, toothed. Flowers crowded in terminal verticils, purplish. Nov.--Jan. Weed along streams in forest clearings, SW (Canary Island weed naturalized on the Cape Peninsula).
