Etymology of Cephalophyllum:
Gk. kephale = a head; phyllon = leaf; referring to the compact heads of leaves in some species.
Etymology of rangei:
Commemorating Paul Range (1879-1952), a government geologist and amateur botanist in the former SWA (Namibia). He collected extensively but particularly in southern Namibia
