For Lucius Junius Moderatus Columella (4–c 70), Roman soldier, farmer and agricultural writer, author of De Re Rustica, preserved in 12 volumes, the most important source and complete description of Roman agriculture, farming methods and management. He also wrote about trees in De Arboribus.
