Tufted perennial forming low mats. Leaf bodies 5--8 4--8 4--8 mm, cylindrical to obconical, top convex or depressed, papillate, greyish-green or purplish-brown, with radiate streaks, sheath white, persisting. Flowers diurnal, yellow. Fruit 4-6-locular. Mar--May. In moss on sandstone, NW (Kobee Mts).
