Glabrescent tufted tuberous perennial to 40 cm. Leaves rosulate, oblanceolate, lightly toothed. Flowers in a scapose, spiralling spike-like raceme, subsessile, scape minutely bracteate, bilabiate, laterally slit, whitish to brown or mauve, 16--20 mm long, stamens c. 6 mm long, all anthers bearded. Sept.--Oct. Sandy and stony flats and slopes, NW, SW, LB (Bokkeveld Mts to Riversdale).
