Etymology of Descurainia:
For François Déscourain (1658–1740), French pharmacist and botanist, and friend of Antoine, a teacher, and Bernard de Jussieu, botanical demonstrator at the Jardin du Roi in Paris. He wrote a flora of his native town Etampes, which he did not publish, but which his grandson, Jean-Etienne Guettard (1715–1786), turned into a book entitled Observations sur les plantes (two volumes, Paris, 1747).
