Gk. diplo- = double; kyathos = a cup; referring to the corolla tube campanulate with another tube arising from its base within, reaching to the mouth and there thickened into a recurved rim.
Etymology of ciliata:
From Latin cilium an 'eyelid', referring to short hairs that resemble eyelashes.
