Etymology of Disa:
Origin obscure. Börge Pettison believes the plant was named after Queen Disa who occurs in a Swedish legendary saga. The author, Peter Jonas Bergius, was a Swedish botanist.

From the Latin parvus = ‘small’ and flora = ‘flower’.
