For Ture (Thure) Johan Gustaf Een (1837–1883), Swedish mariner, trader and plant collector. He travelled and traded in Damaraland and Ovamboland (Namibia) between 1866 and 1871 as described in his Minnen från en flerårig vistelse i Sydvästra Afrika (Memories of a Multi-Year Stay in South Africa) (1872). In 1878 he again returned to Namibia trading and collecting natural history material and returning to Sweden in 1880 with a valuable collection of animal skins, ethnological specimens, seeds, bulbs and 300 herbarium specimens, which he catalogued. For a short time he went to Tristan da Cunha as captain of the telegraph, trading seal skins in the South Atlantic. In 1883 he joined an international Congo expedition under Henry Morton Stanley. He died while on board the SS Biafra at the mouth of the Congo River.
