Etymology of Eichhornia:
For Johann Albrecht Friedrich von Eichorn (1779–1856), Prussian lawyer and politician. In his early career he studied law at the University of Göttingen and for a short while was involved with the military during the Napoleonic wars. After the war he resumed his judicial service before becoming a diplomat in Paris where he was a privy counsellor in the ministry of Foreign Affairs, and later became second director of the Foreign Affairs Office. He became a minister of Education and Public Welfare, a court advisor, and although he had a number of setbacks where he disagreed with the king, he became a member of the Prussian State Council (1817–1848) and a member of the State House at the Erfurt Union Parliament, including being interim President.
