Etymology of Elegia:
Gk. elegeia, elegia = song of lamentation; possibly referring to the sound restios make while they are moving in the breeze.
Etymology of acockii:
John Phillip Harison Acocks (formerly Acock, 1911-1979), capetonian botanist. Appointed as a pasture ecologist. He devoted most of his life to the study of vegetation types especially regarding climax state and how and why it deteriorated. He amassed over 28 000 specimens from across South Africa with the main set in PRE.
