For Joachim Anton Ferdinand Fintelmann (1774–1863), Prussian royal gardener. In 1795 he became a gardener’s assistant at the Charlottenburg Royal Gardens. In 1804 Frederick William III appointed him as head gardener on the Peacock Island. This acclaimed park, which he designed with Peter Joseph Lenné from 1816–1834, had over 9 000 shrub roses, greenhouses, a palm house with 42 large palm trees, etc. In 1834, aged 60 years old, he was appointed head gardener at Charlottenburg, where he worked until he was 89 years old. He was the author of Über Nutzbaumpflanzungen (1856). He was awarded the Red Eagle Order third class with ribbon from Friedrich Wilhelm IV in 1853 and given the title Oberhofgärtner auszeichnete (Oberhof excellent gardener) in 1854.
