Short etymology:
For Sir Thomas Gage (1781–1820), English botanist, seventh baronet of Hengrave Hall, Suffolk. Gage collected plants in Ireland and the Iberian Peninsula and contributed to English Botany by James Sowerby and JE Smith and was also a pioneer of lichens.
