Etymology of Geranium:
L. Gk. geranos = a crane. The seed pod resembles a crane’s head and beak.
Etymology of schlechteri:
Named in honour of the German Rudolf Schlecter (1872-1925) and his brother Max (1874-1960), renowned plant collectors from South Africa.
