Short etymology:
For Russell Hallack (1824–1903), English businessman, amateur botanist and plant collector who came to South Africa in 1843 and settled in Port Elizabeth. He collected here and in Natal, to which he travelled on horseback in 1854. He sent his specimens to William Henry Harvey, and also to Peter McOwan. He was the father of collector Florence Mary Paterson.
