Leafy shrublet with striate branches to 1 m. Leaves stipulate, linear-lanceolate. Flowers white, pink to purple, few on short-shoots, ovules 10--36. Fruits erect, linear, 30--120 mm long. Apr.--Feb. Sandstone slopes, NW, SW, KM (Gifberg to Genadendal).
