Etymology of Hyptis:
Gk. hyptios = resupinate (upside down). ‘The saccate lip is abruptly deflexed’ (Robert Allen Dyer), i.e. the bag-shaped lip is bent abruptly downward.

From the Latin ‘suave’ = ‘pleasantly’; and the Latin ‘olens’ = ‘smelling’. i.e. pleasant smelling.
