Short etymology:
For Georges Marie Patrice Charles Le Testu (1877–1967), French colonial administrator and specialist in West African flora. He worked in Dahomey for an agricultural company and collected plant specimens there (1900–1902) and in Mozambique (1904–1906), Gabon and Umbangi-Shari (1907–1934), now called the Central African Republic, and thereafter returned to France and worked at the botanical garden at Caen, France from 1935 onward. He authored Notes sur les Coutumes Bapounou Dans la Circonscription de la Nyanga (Notes on the Customs of Bapounou in the District of Nyanga) (1918).
