Gk. mikros = very small; loma = edge or fringe; referring to the hairy corolla tube. The hairs are minute.

Somewhat rigid, spiky shrublet to 30 cm, with clear sap. Leaves opposite, 2--8 mm, caducous. Flowers 2--4 mm long, greenish yellow. Mainly Sept.--Dec. Stony flats and slopes in karroid scrub, KM (Namibia and Karoo to Little Karoo).
