For Illtyd Buller Pole Evans (1879–1968), Welshborn South African botanist, mycologist, plant pathologist and collector. A graduate of the University College of South Wales and Cambridge, he joined the Transvaal Department of Agriculture and took charge of the Division of Botany and Plant Pathology. His botanical contribution was immense including his superb Aloe collection, research of the major vegetation types in Southern Africa, travels throughout South Africa and Southern Africa and extensive collecting, building up of the national herbarium, and his many publications. He was the first editor of Flowering Plants of South Africa and Bothalia. He was a Fellow of the Linnaean Society and director of the Botanical Survey of South Africa 1918–1939.
