Cormous geophyte, 10--40 cm, corms rounded at base. Basal leaves several. Flowers pink to purple, sometimes white, with yellow cup. Ripe capsules erect. July--Oct. Sandy and clay slopes and flats, NW, SW, AP, KM, LB, SE (Bokkeveld Mts to Port Elizabeth and W Karoo).
