Short etymology:
For Johann Georg Teede, German naturalist and plant collector living in the late 1700s, mentioned by his friend Heinrich Adolph Schrader (1767–1836), German botanist and mycologist, who in his journal, Für die Botanik (1799), states that Teede ‘cultivated’ (studied?) in Germany for a couple of years before he went to collect in Portugal and to Surinam, where he died shortly after his arrival. Schrader states, loosely translated: ‘Had he lived longer, he would have perhaps become a famous botanist, worthy of a monument.’ His surname was misspelled ‘Taede’ in the British Museum herbarium, and ‘Tiede’ in the Berlin herbarium.
