Etymology of Tenicroa:
Gk. taenia = tape, ribbon; croa = unknown. An apparently meaningless word, which was Rafinesque’s penchant.

From the Latin fili = 'thread' or 'string' and folius = 'leaf' ; the leaf is long and narrow
