Gk. tetra = four; gonia = an angle; referring to the angular shape of the fruit.
Etymology of rangeana:
Commemorating Paul Range (1879-1952), a government geologist and amateur botanist in the former SWA (Namibia). He collected extensively but particularly in southern Namibia
