Etymology of Trochomeria:
Gk. trochos = a wheel; meris = portion, part. The connection to the plant is rather obscure – perhaps because the long, narrow corolla lobes look like the spokes of a wheel.

From the Greek makros = ‘big’ and karpos = ‘fruit’
