Etymology of Anthericum:
Gk. anthera = an anther; kerkos = hedge; Linnaean name from the Gk. antherikos, asphodel (St Bernard’s lily); apparently alluding to the tallness of the flower stems.
Etymology of rangei:
Commemorating Paul Range (1879-1952), a government geologist and amateur botanist in the former SWA (Namibia). He collected extensively but particularly in southern Namibia
