Like A. vestita but leaves often larger and irregularly toothed, fruiting bracts rhomboid, swollen and corky at the base, grey-mealy, to 10 mm long. Sept.--Oct. Coastal saline flats, seasonal streambanks, NW, SW, AP, KM, SE (Namibia to Stilbaai, ? to Uitenhage).
