Etymology of Blotiella:
For Marie-Laure Tardieu-Blot (1902–1998), French botanist and physician, pteridologist and plant collector, who obtained a doctorate in natural science from the Faculty of Sciences in Paris, 1943, was deputy director of the National Museum of Natural History from 1964, and co-author of floras of New Caledonia, Madagascar and the Comoros, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, Cameroon, including General Flora of Indo-China (1932–1950), and Pteridophytes of French intertropical Africa (1953). In 1932, he was appointed a member of the Société Botanique de France.
