Etymology of Bolboschoenus:
Gk. bolbos = swelling or bulb; La. schoenus, from Gk. skhoinos = a rush or reed. Boluschoenus is a rhizomatous perennial, the name of which alludes to the presence of corms whereas the genus Schoenus ‘has no tubers’, perhaps alluding to the bulbous base of these rush-like plants.
