Etymology of Clitoria:
Gk. kleio = I shut. Linnaean name for Clitoria mariana, the butterfly pea, from a supposed resemblance to the female clitoris or referring to the seed forming inside the flower before petal-drop (Plowden) or by analogy the legume in the persistent flower parts (David Gledhill).
Etymology of viridiflora:
from the Latin 'virido' meaning green and 'flos' meaning flower; refers to the green colour of the flowers
